Assistant Professor

Giannis Kontaratos was born in Athens in 1968. He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts (1987-1992). In 2012, he was awarded a PhD in History and Theory of Art by Panteion University of Social ωςand Political Sciences. He has held seven individual exhibitions (Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens - Gazi 1998, Athens Art Gallery 2002, Ileana Tounta Center for Contemporary Art 2006, About 2010, Medusa Art Gallery 2015, Alpha CK Art Gallery 2016, Medusa Art Gallery 2017) and he has participated in many group ones. He has published William Blake's Theory of Art and the Importance of His Visual Work for its Understanding (Nisos, Athens, 2013) and he has been translated by Philip Guston. The painter in Eden. Texts, speeches, interviews (ASKT, Athens, 2014). He has also participated as a lecturer at scientific conferences and he has published texts on modern Greek art.
