information

The video «The Table of Narrations» by Katerina Zacharopoulou emerged from the filmed performance-action, centered on the concept of home, as a hearth, as a roof, as a place of reference. The performance originally took place in 2017 at the Onassis Foundation, which is also the producer of the project. Among the audience that took part were artists, writers, homeless groups, immigrant women and ordinary citizens.

The work was then held in Thessaloniki where it was presented in the 6th Biennale and in 2018 in Rethymno at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete. More specifically, it is a reference to the concept of shelter and security, Home and life within it. It is revealed by a microcosm of desires, arrangements and reconstructions of rooms, in which people experience feelings and situations that will not fade away easily, even if life has in store movements, departures and returns.A familiar world, which sometimes becomes a dream or a nightmare, a reality or a utopia, appears through the narratives of the participants. Katerina Zacharopoulou asks her guests to reenact through memory settings that mean something to them, that move them emotionally, that refer to incidents in their lives. The invitation is for those who want to recount memories about homes they lived in or left, lost or dreamed of owning. «The Table of Narrations» is an open stage with rooms, furniture, small objects and cameras that track, record and save hand movements as they move the furniture and the accompanying narratives. It is the first time that the video has been shown and both the public nature of the screening and its participation in the East End – Samos Arts Festival are of particular importance.
